I build AI systems that make language useful, measurable, and actionable. My work spans natural language processing, information retrieval, machine learning, and generative AI, with a particular focus on search, question answering, ranking, and rigorous evaluation.

My path began with research in semiotics and the formal representation of meaning, continued through a PhD focused on multilingual Open Information Extraction, and evolved into developing production AI solutions for language processing at IBM, Target, Amazon, and other technology companies.

Across research and industry, I have developed models, metrics, and evaluation frameworks; built scalable machine-learning pipelines; and translated open-ended product questions into reliable, user-centered systems.

My research interests lie at the intersection of language, knowledge, and intelligent systems, including multilingual NLP, information extraction, semantic representation and similarity, information retrieval, and the evaluation of LLM-powered applications. I am also interested in the broader future and societal impact of AI, particularly its applications to medicine, healthy longevity, and human–AI integration.
